On a walk this morning, i was wondering as i took in the rolling mountains, the river, the bare trees, the snow, the cold air, the distant hum of traffic, and the deep quiet all around me…. In actuality, all is wholeness. i am here walking, surrounded by such beauty. All is okay, and i need very little. Everything is whole and contained in wholeness. One can directly perceive this when the mind quiets. Fragmentation ends as well as separation. The only thing that gives the illusion of fragmentation and separation is how we have been conditioned to think. When the mind quiets, one would see in clarity that wholeness is who we are, instead of isolated individuals divided from everything. We become stuck on cause and effect, thinking that one thing starts something when all things simultaneously act upon one another.

And yet, the notion of things makes no sense in the very ground of wholeness, for there are no things to distinguish. Only when we put our myopic separate focus on things we think nouns exist, we ignore that all things are happening and unfolding in Wholeness. We are wholeness, and wholeness is us. Nothing is separate. All is oneself. Seeing in this way, we would see that the world is not hostile and needs to be conquered, but that we can learn to cooperate and symbiotically live with all the diverse species that flow with us — not against us. Homo sapiens aren’t on top of a hierarchal pyramid of life. There is no hierarchy. All species, flora, and fauna that flow together inseparably are just as essential and worthy of life as any of us.

To think otherwise puts us at war with the world.

Simple as that.

To love is unconditional. Love isn’t singular but ecological. Love is the breath of wholeness.

Tapped into wholeness, why would i need to compete against my brothers and sisters? Why would I need to destroy ecosystems? Why would I see any creature as less than myself? Why would i need to keep up with the Joneses?

It would make no sense. All aspects of nature are wholes within wholes.

Yet, to let go of this, I have to let go of all the conditions and identities in which i say is myself. Imagine how difficult this is if you are of the wealthy class. To let go of the materialism that reflects that self and the wealth that makes that person “somebody” in this culture would be very difficult indeed. Yet, unless we let go of this hierarchal system that is collectively in our minds, nothing will change, and suffering will continue.

I am a transpersonal therapist, a teacher, and love wonder. I have explored many wild places. Wholeness and love is what it is all about for me.
