As long as there is hierarchy, it seems to me, then there is going to be violence, oppression, conflict, and people fighting for power and wealth, or deeply frustrated and mentally ill who are struggling but get no help. We also see this ignorance and brutality in how we treat cows and pigs and chickens and turn the other way even though they deeply suffer in the most inhospitable conditions., Our culture, it seems to me, is taught, since we are young through the familial and educational systems, to crush our wonder, curiosity, voice, and our sensitivity, and connection to nature. We are taught to follow authority and fit into the capitalistic economic system to get ahead. This will be the pattern of sorrow until we break free.
