Everywhere I looked, Beauty Enveloped Me
As i sat
bathed in wonder
i observed the meandering river
the feeling of dawn
began to light up the sky
In the pink halo flowering light
quiet bloomed
the water began to quiver
everywhere i looked
beauty enveloped me
everything was flowering in beauty
it blossomed in the deep folding green mountains
it blossomed in the cool waves of wind
it blossomed in the wild ecosystems
it blossomed in the immeasurable interwoven species
It blossomed in light and shadow
it blossomed in the river
it blossomed in every nook and cranny
in the quiet
there was nothing to get to
nothing to accomplish
nothing to gain
and nothing was everything
all was laid exposed, vulnerable and bare
there were no names, no addresses, no ownership
culture had no place here
i laid down on the supple grass
and browsed the deepening blue sky
billowing clouds appeared and disappeared
in the infinite whirlpool of presence
birds lifted their voices
garland of trees spoke to the whispering sun
pockets of insects animated
to the throb of the heat
warmth spooned the air
the earth steamed
and all around
love flowed in everything

Stop here with me
let loose into freedom
let presence and nature heal
your soul
and see that our culture is a grave
disease of violence and trauma
upon humanity and all of life
here
in presence and wonder
you see who you are
in the
i don’t know
for in the presence of wonder
there is nothing that can contain you
